Class Winners

The Don Chancey Award

Best Box Call Set

This award recognizes call makers who have mastered the craft of making and tuning calls. Chancey entered his first working box call competition in 1999, and in 2001 and 2003, he won the coveted Gibson Award for best-sounding box call. In addition, he won back-to-back Champion of Champions Awards in 2003 and 2004. In total, he captured a dozen prestigious awards. While Chancey's callmaking skills are without question, perhaps his greatest contribution was how he handled success. He was a quiet, soft-spoken gentleman who freely shared information and encouraged and supported his fellow call makers. Those in the callmaking community admired his humble demeanor, generosity and kindness. For those who knew Don, he set the standard for call making and sportsmanship.
