Voting and Nominations

The callmaking committee will nominate and vote for inductees to the Turkey Callmaking Hall of Fame each year. (Not to be confused with the Turkey Callmaking Competition Hall of Fame) Each committee member will get to nominate eligible people each year. The nomination process will take place in October each year based on the criteria below. In the committees November meeting each year each committee member will get 5 votes to place on any of the nominations that were made in the previous month. Votes are counted and the top 1-5 nominees who receive the most votes will be admitted into the following years Turkey Callmaking Hall of Fame.

The Turkey Competition Hall of Fame will get nominations from previous inductees to that hall of fame. Those nominations will also take place in October each year. If an eligible candidate receives nominations from his or her peers, those nominations will be presented to the callmaking committee to be voted on. Each committee member will get a total of 3 votes to use on only the nominated candidates in the November meeting each year. The top 1-3 nominees who receive the most votes will be inducted into the Competition Hall of Fame.

The Waterfowl competition Hall of Fame inductees will solely be selected by their peers. Because there is no committee on the Waterfowl side of the competition, the previous inductees will select the winner each year from the eligible list of candidates.

Eligibility Requirements for Consideration

Turkey Competition Hall of Fame

• Inductees will be limited to no more than three per year.
• 3 Major Wins. Major wins are classified as class wins such as the Gibson Award, The Earl Mickel Award, The DD Adams Award, Tom Turpin, Neil Cost Award, Don Chancey Award, Jeremiah Stevens Award, The Jordan Award, The Charley Burke Award, The Locator Champion Award, and all unnamed Best of Class awards in Division 1 (Decorative Turkey)
• Nominees will be retired from competition for a minimum of three years
• Nomination by current inductees of the Competition Hall of Fame

Turkey Callmaking Hall of Fame

• Nominees will be retired from competition for a minimum of three years
• Inductees will be limited to no more than five per year.
• Eligibility requires at least ten years of experience in callmaking (with an exception for posthumous nominees)
• Candidates must demonstrate a mastery of their craft, as evidenced by:
  • Innovation, reputation, consistency of quality, recognition, artistic license, historical significance, etc.
  • The candidate must be recognized as having made a profound positive influence within the callmaking community
  • Evidence of their achievement should be established in their credentials, such as the impact and implications of their callmaking, public awards and honors, leadership, and success as a callmaker.

Waterfowl Competition Hall of Fame

• At least 1 Major Win. Major wins are classified as Best of show in either duck or goose or the Dennis Poeschel Award.
• Inductees will be limited to no more than three per year.
